In preparation for our 2019 summer study abroad program, we’re featuring each destination of our itinerary here on our blog! First in our Summer in Europe programs was Barcelona, Spain, followed by Paris! Our travels continue through France to Chamonix, with a day trip to Geneva, Switzerland!
From Paris, we travel by bus to the sweet town of Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, known for skiing and snowboarding in the winter, and hiking, biking, and many other outdoor activities in the summer. On the way to Chamonix, we’ll stop in Geneva, Switzerland for a professional visit to the United Nations European headquarters.
Chamonix hosted the first ever Winter Olympics in 1924, and remains one of the most popular ski towns in Europe. The official language in Chamonix is French, but you’ll meet people from all over the world who make their way to Chamonix to enjoy the scenery and outdoor adventures.
It’s easy to navigate Chamonix by foot, and together we’ll make the trip up Le Brévent via cable cars to see the best view of Mont Blanc! Though you’ll be standing in France, from the very top you’ll be able to see the Italian and Swiss alps as well.
