After signing yourself up for one of the most thrilling study abroad summer programs out there, you are probably eagerly wondering what is on tap for your itinerary. Well, how would you feel about being given the chance to do a bit of international networking with some of the most notable beverage brands in all of Europe primely located in Spain? Chances are that you are hardly opposed to that notion.

Spain is home to a number of prominent companies that are quite successful in selling the hard stuff. That is right, your international learning experience may include a few choice visits to Spanish businesses that make a living by producing booze. If you have ever had the hopes of entering the wine, beer and spirits field, then this could surely help you see just how organizations in this industry run firsthand.

In the past, Form-Nexus has taken students on go-sees, having arranged tours and informational visits with various Spanish firms that churn out high quality, adult beverages. While the exact corporate locations are subject to change, you may find it exciting just to examine where program participants have headed in the past to get a good idea of the kinds of professional encounters you could have waiting for you this summer.

Explore the production of traditional cava wine
While you are studying in Spain, you may get the shot to visit the Codorníu cellars in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia to see how cava is made. If you are a wine connoisseur, then you have probably experienced the wonders of cava. It is a customary Catalonia variety that is full of bubbles and flavor. To maintain tradition and uphold the integrity of this beverage, its production is strictly regulated.

You can witness all of the work that goes into cultivating the grapes and transforming them into wine – from the pressing methods right down to the multiple fermentation steps taken to ensure that this beverage has the perfect dimension of tastes. With a meet and greet at Codorníu winery, you can watch the creation of this libation and speak with the cellars' representatives to hear all about the history behind cava and the company.

Break into the Spanish beer business
Wine is not everyone's thing. If you prefer grain over grape, then you will be happy to hear that your study abroad program is not simply a tour de vin. As you drink in the Spanish sunshine this summer, you could also be presented with the chance to take a spin around the Estrella Damm Brewery.

This company was founded in 1876 by August and Melanie Kuentzmann Damm, immigrants who had fled their wartorn home of Alsace for Barcelona. The brewery has been passed down within the Damm family over the past 130 years, having 11 generations of master brewers partake in the production of their unique beer.

Since the very beginning, this brewery has stayed true to its original recipe. The family uses a blend of grains, including barley grown by the fertile Ebro Basin. If you take a tour of this business, you can exactly how its beer gets characteristically Mediterranean flavor. Spoiler Alert: It adds rice to the mix.
